The Year of Rabbit

Lunar New Year is one of the biggest festivals celebrated around the world. It is also a big part of Cambodian people's celebration. This year “Rabbit” is the main character.

With the year of 2022, I drew Tiger characters in different styles which represent Lunar New Year elements. The same as this year 2023, I started drawing “Rabbit” with more LNY elements in November 2022. Elements included lion dance; gold; coin; orange; red packet; lantern; traditional dress; longevity noodle; rice balls; greeting; dancing; firecracker; tea set; and dumpling.

Along with the character, I drew two more additional artworks representing the most important parts of LNY (reunion dinner and lion dance). In the lion dance artwork, rabbit and their fellow friend ‘tiger’ did the lion dance to celebrate new year - followed by other animals coming and cheering holding a gold, a gold coin, and red packets.

The second artwork - family reunion - I drew Rabbits having dinner with his fellow friends and as well as the upcoming year animal ‘dragon’ with a lot of food that people would enjoy during LNY.
